Disclaimer: The content contained in
the 'Tactics' section was written for the 4th edition of Warhammer
40k. Now that 5th edition is here, I will be updating the tactics
articles soon. In the meantime, some of the information contained
herein may be outdated.
Here are some of my thoughts and musings about
the strategies and tactical aspects of wargaming. I have been
into wargames for quite a long time. I have never played in a
major Games Workshop sponsored tournament, but I have won a couple
of local tournaments where the competition was pretty fierce.
Most of my references will be to Warhammer
40k, since it's the game I primarily play. However, many of the
general strategies and tactics are just as useful in any other
wargame. Now, I don't claim to be an absolute authority on all
the ins and outs of 40k, but I think I have a pretty good knowledge
base. As always, the best advice is to "try it for yourself".
If you read something here that doesn't work for you, ignore it.
As with everything else on the internet, take it all with a grain
I've divided my ramblings into several categories
to try and organize them a bit. The Basics are several articles
that act as an intro to wargame tactics. General Tactics is full
of tactical formations and battleplans suitable for all players.
Finally, there are a few tactics for some specific 40k armies.
There are plenty of pictures that will go
with the tactics descriptions, I just need to get off my butt
and take them. For now though, some of the pictures may seem out
of place, or will be missing entirely, but the tactical info is
what you're here for right? If all ya wanna do is look at pretty
pictures, head for the Gallery! :-)
Without further ado, 'ere we go.
